Hey Babes! Spring is near and that means it's time to update our denim (or maybe that's just my excuse to buy more denim lol). If you've been following my blog you know I'm a lover of all thing denim. From denim skirts, pants, shirts, jackets to shoes....I want it all.  But jeans are my absolute favorite. Believe it or not, I remember a time when I'd never wear denim because I couldn't find my size or if a store had my size they didn't fit properly. And you all know FIT IS EVERYTHING! So I ended up trading in my jeans for leggings. I had leggings in every color, shade, and length. I probably had 20 pair of black leggings because they were heavy in rotation. But with lots of research and trial -n- error when shopping for denim as a size 24+, I finally fell in love with denim jeans again.

Dark denim jeans are the foundation of a great wardrobe. If you don't add any other denim to your closet, you must own a crisp pair of dark denim jeans. They're so versatile, they can be dressed up or down, they're seriously the chameleon of your denim wardrobe. I never want you to miss out on the feeling wearing great fitting denim gives you. I've put together a list essentials factors for you to take with you when shopping for denim, below!
Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, BlogLovin', Google+

The first denim shopping essential is narrow down your style options. Find the styles that best fit your body type. Some denim jean styles include bootcut, skinny, flare and boyfriend...just to name a few. Apple shaped girls, we should look for high-waist jeans that give good support for our tummies.

Whichever style you chose, its a denim shopping essential to ensure that your jeans fit. We're saying no to baggy jeans, too tight jeans, and plumber's crack causing jeans in Spring 2018.  If you're like me and in between sizes (I always say I'm a size 25 lol) buy the jeans that are bigger in size. It's easier to get your altered at the tailor vs. camouflaging a muffin top!

Denim shopping essential #3, know your stores size charts. A size 24 at Avenue is totally different from a size 24 at ASOS. This will require a little study time and measuring but it'll save you a lot of time and money in the long run. Trust me, I've returned several items to stores because I didn't utilize their size charts.

Speaking of measuring...when shopping for denim it's essential to know your inseam length measurements. If  your length is too long, it'll make your legs look super short and apples we don't need that! When shopping for denim jeans, I always look for jeans that will look good whether I'm wearing flats or heels (because one day I'll have a pair of red bottoms to rock with my favorite jeans lol).

And the final denim shopping essential is to be open minded. You may be used to wearing jeans that aren't flattering  to your frame but in Spring 2018, we're changing that. I encourage you to play around with styles, cuts, colors, and lengths when denim shopping. Finding the perfect pair may not happen on your first try but with these denim shopping essentials you'll find the perfect pair in no time!

Style Notes*
My entire outfit is from Avenue and you can purchase each item  from my "Blogger's Closet" Collection. The jeans are in Tall length, I'm not tall (only 5'6) but I need the extra length for the look I wanted to achieve.
