Nobody:

Me: I'm going to St. Louis!
When I told my friends I was headed to St. Louis, MO for vacation, they all gave me a side eye and asked the same question...why?!?! My response was simply to eat good, see The Gateway Arch, and listen to Blues Music.
St. Louis may not be on the top of your travel bucket list, but it should be! The city has lots of free tourist attractions, they're second best to Washington, D.C! Also, it's a very lowkey city, so it has a very authentic feel that's not diminished by tons of tourist. Whether you're traveling solo, with your girlfriends, or with your family there's something for you to do in the Lou!
Things To Do:
The Gateway Arch - I mean can you really visit St. Louis without seeing The Gateway Arch aka Archie. You can take a 4-minute tram ride to the top of the arch to get 360-degree views of Downtown St. Louis from 630 feet above the ground. CAUTION: The tram is very small; if you're claustrophobic you may want to skip it. To get the best out of your visit to Gateway Arch you should book the " See Everything Combo", it includes a ride on the tram, a 35-minute documentary on the constructional of the arch, and a 1 hour boat ride on the Mississippi River that has the best views of the arch and St. Louis.
Eat - I ate so much on this vacation, I have to write a separate blog post on all of the eateries we found in STL. When you make your trip to the Lou, you must try Sugarfire Smokehouse. The brisket w/ coffee BBQ sauce is legit BBQ heaven on earth.
The Historic Old Courthouse - The old courthouse is probably the most historic in the United States because it's where the civil rights movement was jumpstarted. In 1847, Dred Scott an enslaved man filed a lawsuit for the freedom of his wife and their two daughters.
Ballpark Village - Y'all I love baseball! And if you're a baseball lover Ballpark Village is a must see! It's located right outside of the Cardinals Stadium and if you go to the rooftop of Cardinals Nation, you get views of the inside of the stadium. We visited STL while the Cardinals were playing their rivalry team the Chicago Cubs, you can only imagine how live Ballpark Village was during that weekend.
The City Museum - The City Museum is not your average museum. It's legit an adult playground! The building is full of man-made caves and tunnels, an enchanted forest with sky tunnels, an aquarium, a shoelace factory, circus performances and so much more. You have to add City Museum to your STL To-See List. It's mindblowing!
See a Live Blues Show- St. Louis is a hotspot for live blues music. Every night of the week you can find local artist jamming in a blues venue. If you're in the city on a Sunday afternoon, you can visit the National Blues Museum and a live Blues show at the same time!

St. Louis quickly became one of my favorite US cities because of its food and rich culture. I look forward to hearing all about your STL travels in the Fat Girls Travel, Too! Facebook group.
